Mental Health ClinicianSuicide Prevention Outreach Team

Community Mental Health -Curran Centre

About the role

If you are looking to broaden your scope to fast track your career this role offers a wide range of clinical experiences, with your skills supported through our experienced staff, clinical educators and inclusive, collaborative and caring team.  Our single goal is to build thriving communities and healthier rural people and the interesting and challenging work scenarios you will face each day will build your competency to play a vital role in helping us achieve this aim.

The Suicide Prevention Outreach Team is a key initiative of the Towards Zero Suicides NSW government program and this role will provide responsive, recovery oriented trauma-informed clinical support for people in crisis.

This initiative will provide assertive outreach and follow up for people experiencing a suicidal crisis in the community. Your support may include crisis response, proactive follow up, psychosocial support, safety planning, recovery/wellness planning, individual support, advocacy and collaborative identification of community supports.

You’ll work with crisis services including help lines and contexts associated with high suicide risk including departure from custody, homelessness, financial distress, domestic and family violence and sexual assault. You’ll also work with youth, Aboriginal, men’s, LGBTIQ, legal aid and drug and alcohol services to ensure high awareness of the Suicide Prevention Outreach Team and referrals to the service.

This is an opportunity to participate in the co-design of unique locally focused models of care with people with lived experience of suicide, clinicians, community organisations and other stakeholders. These models will respond to local needs and integrate with existing services.
