About the Role

Reporting to the Financial Controller, this role is ideal for an intermediate Accountant with a solid understanding of accounting principles, and who is eager to contribute to the financial success of our growing organisation. 

As an Assistant Accountant in the Finance team, you will:

• Process month end journals, accruals, and general ledger reconciliations
• Maintain fixed asset registers
• Assist with interim & final audits as required
• Daily Cashflow Reporting
• Assist in preparation of financial statements
• Provide support and guidance to the wider finance team
• Process daily payment runs, including uploading .aba files to the bank, and entering manual BPAY and EFT payments.
• Assist in processing weekly & monthly commissions
• Assist with daily bank reconciliations 
• Back up and support as directed or in absence of Finance staff.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of accounts processes and systems.

Skills and Experience 

• The ideal candidate will be degree qualified with 2+ years existing experience as an Assistant Accountant or Finance Officer and has commenced, or has intentions to start their CA/CPA qualification.
• Intermediate excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP etc.)
• Sound understanding of the general ledger
• Ability to work under pressure, multi-task, and deal with a high volume of work in a tight deadline environment
• Ability to apply logic and reasoning.
• High level of accuracy and compliance
• High level of attention to detail
• Effective time management skills
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
• Ability to implement and follow due process and procedures 
• Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
