Our client, provides a complete mine to market solution with people recognised as one of their most important assets. An opportunity has presented for an experienced Assistant Accountant to join one of Australia’s largest integrated providers of import and export logistics handling more than 85 million tonnes per annum of various bulk ores, concentrates, mineral sands, salt, coal and dangerous goods.
About the Role:
Reporting into the Financial Accountant, the Assistant Accountant will primarily be accountable for the review of P&L’s with the Operational teams. Communication with all stakeholders is critical to meet month end deadlines and to ensure that the information in the P&L’s is accurate. Specific responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Ensure P&L and balance sheet information is accurate and maintained to accounting standards,
- Analyse financial data and monitor KPI’s,
- Supervise the input and handling of data into the financial system for both AP and AR,
- Ensure all other input to the central accounting system are received and processed in an accurate and timely manner,
- Meet month end reporting deadlines,
- Balance sheet and revenue reconciliations,
- Raise and issue debtor invoices in respect of asset disposals,
- Prepare monthly diesel rebate fuel claim, permit and registration renewals, cost accruals and prepayments
- Monthly preparation of BAS return along with preparation of supporting schedules for annual FFBT return
About You:
- A relevant tertiary qualification within Accounting or solid demonstrable experience working in a similar Accounting role.
- Willing to participate and to work safely by presenting fit for work free from fatigue and/or the influence of alcohol or other drugs.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with a variety of people.
- Advanced skills using Microsoft Office and Excel along with Finance System experience.
- Ability to work autonomously or within a team environment using a proactive approach to task resolution.
- Priority given to accuracy and detail with a high level or organisational ability.
- Open to being flexible and adaptable to a demanding small team work environment.
