About the OPPORTUNITY
We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Accountant to join our Finance team based in Flinders Street, Adelaide. Reporting to the Accounting Manager – Financial Accounting.
The Assistant Accountant is primarily responsible for assisting in the preparation of financial data to meet the internal reporting requirements of BAE Systems Australia.
We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as working a 9-day fortnight.
Key responsibilities include:
- Responsible for ensuring all fixed assets processing and fixed assets month end activities are performed accurately and in a timely manner;
- Responsible for the completion of all monthly fixed asset reporting packs and the full year statutory fixed assets report
- Co-ordinate the annual Fixed Assets stock take and annual depreciation review;
- Manage the Fixed Assets helpdesk and respond to all queries in a timely fashion;
- Oversight of the fixed asset process including mass additions, Business Unit fixed asset reporting and impairment reviews
- Support the Financial Accountant with internal and external Auditors with queries at mid-year and year-end.
- Engage with central finance teams, as well as other functions within the business as needed.
- Degree qualification in relevant field and a CA or CPA qualification (or working towards)
- Knowledge of AASB 116/ IAS 16 and experience in handling fixed asset process is advantageous
- Strong stakeholder management skills with high level of personal integrity, initiative and motivation
- Ability to use and adapt written and verbal communication skills to suit a variety of difference audiences is critical to this role
