Our client is a locally owned and operated leading provider of childcare services in Australia. Due to continual growth and expansion, they’re looking for an experienced Assistant Accountant – Accounts Payable resource to join their growing team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in managing payments, expenditures, and financial transactions within the organization and assisting with month end responsibilities.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Track and manage payments, purchase orders, invoices, and statements.
- Handle vendor management, including new vendor applications and communication regarding payment schedules.
- Process employee expense claims, ensuring verification as required.
- Review and validate purchase ledger data before importing into the ERP system.
- Process and reconcile credit card transactions, preparing group payment batches.
- Manage cash across group bank accounts for effective treasury management.
- Maintain accurate historical data and financial records.
- Provide support in audit and tax preparation processes.
- Correspond with creditors and vendors regarding payment schedules and inquiries.
- Prepare analysis of accounts and monthly reports.
- Support month-end processes by assisting with accruals, prepayments, and journal entries.
- Make recommendations to improve the payment process.
- Undertake other duties as requested to support a high-performing finance function.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- Proven experience in finance and accounts coordination roles.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in Word & Excel.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics Navision & SAP Concur highly regarded.
- Salary circa $70k-$80k plus super
