Double Dutch Bakery is a new, small-scale bakery based in Kensington, Melbourne. We are a community bakery and coffee shop, created in partnership with Rumble Coffee Roasters. We bake fresh every morning and source our ingredients locally. Our coffee is roasted a street away, and our goal is to bring the best-baked goods to the West.
THE ROLE
The Assistant Baker role is a full-time role at Double Dutch.
This is a dynamic role that involves food preparation, baking, and general kitchen cleaning. A strong work ethic and solid people skills are a must. Anticipate drinking lots of coffee, eating great baked goods, solid team banter, and a supportive and hard-working culture. We will provide on-the-job training for any baker/pastry chef who is wanting to upskill.
WHAT’S INVOLVED
Preparing sourdough bread
Producing viennoiserie
Help keep the kitchen clean and tidy
Making sandwiches, pies & sausage rolls
Contributing to an efficient baking workflow.
Preparing sauces, salads and other bread fillings.
Ensuring the kitchen area is kept neat and functional throughout the day.
A good understanding of food handling procedures.
Willingness to jump in and help coworkers when needed.
REQUIREMENTS
Must be a morning person. The job involves early starts.
Physically fit and able-bodied. This is a physical job that involves being able to lift sacks of flour. You will also be on your feet for most of the day
Willingness to learn new skills
Experience in baking, or commercial kitchens is a must. Three years experience is preferable.
Experience in customer service is also favourable
Available to work Saturday mornings
