About the role

The Australian Financial Security Authority (AFSA) is responsible for managing the application of bankruptcy and personal property securities laws through the delivery of high-quality personal insolvency and trustee, regulation and enforcement, and personal property securities services. 

The Technology Services division’s aim is to ensure that cutting-edge technologies are employed in alignment with industry best practices, resulting in a secure, efficient, and innovative IT environment. Our efforts are geared towards seamlessly supporting the organisation's core functions, optimising operational processes, and enabling the achievement of strategic objectives.

The Cloud & Integration team plays a pivotal role in the organisation's IT ecosystem, serving as the backbone for seamless connectivity, data exchange, and innovation. Comprised of highly skilled professionals with expertise in cloud computing, integration technologies, and data management, the team collaborates closely with various departments to drive digital transformation and enhance operational efficiency. 

Purpose of the Position

This position oversees the integration of Software as a Service (SAAS) solutions into the organisation's environment and provide integration services for platforms and data management, data messaging systems, and API environments. This role leads a team responsible for the design, implementation, and operation of cloud environments and solution integration, primarily on the Azure platform and SAAS solutions.

Key accountabilities

  • Lead and manage the Cloud & Integration team, providing direction, guidance, and support in the design, implementation, and operation of public cloud environments, primarily Azure, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and objectives. 
  • Oversee the integration of Software as a Service (SAAS) solutions into the organisation's environment, facilitating seamless connectivity and interoperability while adhering to security and compliance standards. 
  • Provide integration services for data management, including but not limited to Azure Logic Apps, Azure Service Bus, Managed File Transfer (MFT), messaging systems, and API environments, ensuring efficient and reliable data exchange across the organisation. 
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions, driving innovation and continuous improvement in Cloud and Integration strategies. 
  • Develop and maintain robust processes and procedures for managing cloud environments and Integration services, including monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance optimization. 
  • Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies related to cloud computing and Integration, and leverage this knowledge to enhance the team's capabilities.  
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, knowledge sharing, and accountability within the Cloud & Integration team, promoting professional development and growth opportunities for team members. 
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and trusted advisor to senior leadership on matters related to cloud computing and Integration, providing insights, recommendations, and strategic guidance to support organisational objectives.

Qualifications and experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology or relevant industry experience.  
  • 5+ years in a leadership role managing an Information Technology team or in a senior cloud administrator role. 
  • Certifications in cloud computing (Microsoft Certified Azure Solutions Architect, AWS Certified Solutions Architect) and Integration technologies are highly desirable. 
  • Proven track record of successfully leading teams in the design, implementation, and operation of public cloud environments, particularly Azure. 
  • Strong technical expertise in cloud computing platforms, architecture, and services, with hands-on experience in deploying and managing cloud-based solutions. 

Technology Accountabilities include (but not limited to): 

  • Public Cloud Platforms (Predominately Azure, but may include AWS) 
  • Azure Active Directory
  • Azure Logic Apps / Message Queues 
  • Authentication and SAAS Integration / Automation 
  • Managed File Transfer 
  • Data Management and Discovery Platforms (Castlepoint / Purview)
