Assistant DirectorSustainability – Paddock to Plate – RIE & Risky Play
We are seeking an Assistant Director with either a Bachelor of Education, Working towards a Bachelor of Education or an experienced Diploma qualified Educator in Early Childhood Education and Care. The role is full time and we are flexible to negotiate working day patterns.
The Role
This role of Assistant Director will assist the Director/ Nominated Supervisor to provide leadership and management to educators and staff regarding all aspects of the operation of the service in line with relevant regulations and procedures. You will perform the role of Director/ Nominated Supervisor in the absence of the Director/ Nominated Supervisor. In this role you will have:
- Designated non-contact time (off the floor)
- Administrative duties and tours
- Experience working with all levels of educators
- Strong understanding of the NQS
- Fulltime, flexible work arrangement for the right candidate
- Responsible Person experience
Your role will involve engaging the children in age appropriate activities, following the room rituals and routine, contribute to programming, completing the floor book and creating daily posts. You will be supported by our dedicated leadership team to help you grow and expand your knowledge as an educator.
The person we are looking for:
- Holds a Bachelor of Education (ECT), Working towards a Bachelor of Education or an experienced Diploma in Early Childhood Education
- Holds a WWC check, current first aid and CPR qualification
- Have recently completed a child protection course
- Have Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skill, including documentation skills
- Have knowledge of Early Years Learning Framework and National Quality Standards
- Is commitment to early years learning and best practice
- Is experienced working in long day care
- Has a great attitude and work ethics, is a problem solver and a great team player
- Displays a passion to our service philosophies

Orchard Early Learning Centre St Ives has an amazing outdoor play area, the Centre is spread across two levels, with defined Nursery and Preschool levels, the bright and airy rooms flow directly onto the outdoor learning environments, immersing children in our Paddock to Plate philosophy. The service operates from 6.30am - 6.30pm and is located on Mona Vale Road opposite Brigidine College, close to public transport and local street parking available
