Opportunity
We're on the lookout for a people-focused Assistant Events Operations Manager to join our award-winning Events Team at Blackbird Bar and Dining, Brisbane.
Blackbird is proud to garner a reputation as an award-winning restaurant in the Brisbane CBD with stunning views and an impeccable standard of service. Ghanem Group Executive Chef Jake Nicolson takes a critical approach to sourcing the finest local beef, working closely with suppliers, and delivering quality and consistency every time. Our naturally fueled, open wood-fired grill takes center stage at Blackbird, infusing the consistent heat of coal, aromatic woods, and live open flame.
The Assistant Events Operations Manager is responsible for Assisting the Events Operations Manager with the planning, organisation, direction, and coordination of employees and resources for the efficient, well-prepared, and profitable execution of events and functions.
Key to your success will be your demonstrated experience in the following areas:
- Plan and prepare for service periods and functions, ensuring staff levels are correct according to the anticipated level of business
- Ensure table allocations and appropriate levels of stock / Mise en place are done ahead of time
- Oversee the service, ensuring that high standards are consistently met and assisting the team in a hands-on capacity during peak periods or as needed
- Manage the arrival and service of noted VIPS to the venue
- Investigate and resolve customer complaints regarding food/beverage quality and service
- Prepare employee rosters, allowing for employee leave or planned absence
- Coach, motivate, monitor, and manage the team’s performance
- Communicate business goals to employees, providing additional training if required
- Work closely with the Head Chef and Bar Manager to promote menus and wine/beverages to complement menu items and train front-of-house staff for the presentation to customers
- Provide support to the operation’s sales and marketing team on restaurant activations
- Ensure that the company’s activities integrate and comply with requirements for quality management, Hygiene, Workplace Health and Safety (WHS), environmental policies, and general duty of care.
- Any other duties within your capability as directed by the Venue Manager
Successful candidates will have at least 2 years of experience in a similar role and environment, coupled with the following skills and attributes:
- Demonstrated experience in a similar role for a similar size venue
- Solid and proven leadership experience
- Proven skills and experience with POS and common rostering systems
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent customer service skills
- Able to work well under pressure
- Ability to build relationships with a variety of internal & external contacts
- Decisive and able to make difficult decisions
