They are known for their vertically integrated supply chain, which includes growing, importing, and exporting, as well as logistics, third-party packing, and marketing of fresh produce both locally and internationally. They grow grapes, citrus, and berries across Queensland, Victoria, Tasmania, and Western Australia, and due to an internal promotion, they are seeking an Assistant Farm Manager to play a key role in their berry farming operation located near Mundubbera, QLD.
Your Role
Due to an internal promotion, we are looking for a motivated Assistant Farm Manager to join the blueberry farming team based in Mundubbera QLD to be involved in various facets of the organisation.
They are well-established and have plans for further growth. They are currently running semi-automated hydroponic irrigation systems, and continuing to update infrastructure when new crops are planted, the property is comprised of 100 ha under nets, but the property spans a total of 500 ha.
This role will see you focusing on assisting the Farm Manager to manage, direct and lead the farming operations, further to the above, your duties will include, but are not limited to -
Assist the Farm Manager with irrigation, team management and mentoring.
Collaborate with agronomists to identify pests and diseases affecting crops.
Manage harvest, weed control, chemical application, and tractor operations.
Prepare and maintain on-farm irrigation systems, machinery, equipment, and other resources.
Lead, train, and direct all farm labour, including full-time employees, contract workers, and seasonal staff.

You
Hands-on, practical and mechanically minded, you will have experience either in irrigation or overseeing a farming team within the horticulture industry. Previous experience within berries is not essential, though would be regarded. .
To be successful in this role, it is important you can address the followings -
3+ years of experience in farming operations or irrigation.
Demonstrated ability to lead, supervise, and mentor a team.
Knowledge of workplace health and safety (WHS) policies and procedures.
Mechanical aptitude with maintenance experience.
Good computer literacy skills
