As an Assistant Financial Accountant, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial records. You will be responsible for various aspects of financial accounting, including but not limited to, preparing financial statements, reconciling accounts, analyzing financial data, and ensuring compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and bank statements to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Process end-of-month general ledger
- Process end of month journals and drive month-end and year-end closing processes
- Maintain a rolling cash flow forecast to support financial planning and decision-making
- Manage day-to-day banking operations, upload payments, rotating funds, bank reconciliation and working capital facilities
- Process accurate and timely payroll
- Ensure compliance and prepare timely tax returns in collaboration with tax advisors
- Accurately process and code incoming invoices, adhering to accounting principles and internal policies
- Maintain adherence to company financial policies and internal controls
- Collaborate with the management accountant and stakeholders to identify opportunities for automation and process improvement
- Provide support to Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable roles
- Assist with other accounting tasks and projects as required
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred; relevant certifications or qualifications advantageous
- Minimum of 3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in an SME environment
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, contributing to a positive work culture
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with simPRO, Xero and Employment Hero desirable
