About the role:The
Assistant Management Accountant will support the preparation and delivery of month end accounting practices for the EG Australia operating business. By supporting continuous improvement of management reporting systems and processes this role will deliver accurate monthly accounts produced across site level.
Key responsibilities...- Preparation of accurate financial reports and month end accounting including reconciliations and journals including detailed commentary on movements and reconciling variances
- Execution of balance sheet items and balance sheet reconciliations
- Achieving deadlines to support business reporting requirements ensuring accuracy of financial reporting and all costs are captured correctly
- Ensure accuracy of site by site P&Ls
- Deliver variance and trend analysis for consolidated actual results by site and cost centre
- Contribute to systems and process improvement initiatives and controls post month end
- Point of contact for cost reporting and variance analysis for Operational teams
- Understand and adhere to local and Group accounting policies
- Support the FP&A team with information and analysis to drive decision making for local teams
- Support in the production of accurate monthly, quarterly and yearly results
- Assist in year-end statutory audit process and other compliance reporting
- Support the improvement and review of finance processes and controls
What we're looking for:- Sound technical accounting background with an ability to simplify and explain complex activity
- Relevant accounting experience and an applied knowledge of accounting principles and standards within a large multi-site organization ideally within Retail
- Working knowledge of financial information processing systems/applications (SAP highly desirable)
- Strong communicator with high attention to detail
- Versatile and flexible approach to problem solving and a practical thought process
- Curiosity and willingness to investigate key drivers
- High levels of numeracy and analytical skills
