Assistant Manager

Mutual Muse is looking for an Assistant Store Manager for our bright and beautiful Northcote store. We’d love to hear from candidates with broad knowledge of, and experience in the fashion industry, with a drive to contribute to it in a sustainable way. Mutual Muse is a place to buy and sell gently used second-hand clothing, shoes and accessories. We have two brick & mortar stores, Brunswick and Northcote, a pop-up store in Castlemaine and an Online shop selling a curated selection of pieces from our stores.

To succeed as an Assistant Store Manager at Mutual Muse you will;

- have a keen interest in fashion and a good knowledge-base of local and international brands

- have an understanding of the circular-fashion economy and support its values and ethics

- have good research skills and an eye for detail

- have proven experience in customer service

- have the ability to think objectively, with nuance, and occasionally under time-pressure

- have experience managing and working within a team

- possess great communication and problem-solving skills

- posses excellent initiative

- demonstrated organisation and time management skills

What your role will involve…

In this role you will assist the Store Manager in;

- Managing and motivating staff. You will lead by example and provide an excellent framework and supportive space for staff to achieve their goals.

- Buying! You will undertake ongoing training to be a Mutual Muse Buyer. You will build on your existing knowledge of fashion to become a confident and proficient Buyer as well as contribute to the evolution of our training and pricing guides.

- Implementing and upholding systems, policies and procedures whether existing or new

- Representing and advocating for the business via effective communication with customers and stakeholders both in store and via written communication.

- Effective communication with staff and management via various channels

- Ongoing performance reviews and role development with your Store Manager as well as opportunities to work with your Area Manager and Executive Team.

- All general retail duties including opening + closing a store, sales, general housekeeping as well as social media content creation.

This will be a full-time or part-time role with one weekend day expected. We can offer a set schedule with room for flexibility.
