- Compliance Branch
The Compliance Branch provides specialist services in investigations, enforcement, targeted outreach and education, audit, intelligence and analytics and participant assessment. The Compliance Branch works closely with all areas of the agency, but predominantly the scheme operations teams, our internal lawyers and our internal fraud team. Timely and effective progressing of matters is essential and KPIs and governance arrangements are in place to support this.
The Branch comprises of four sections and specific work includes:
- Compliance Strategy and Assurance Section – driving the engagement on strategic compliance policy initiatives, reporting on compliance effectiveness and providing a centralised scheme audit and Assurance function.
- Intelligence and Assessment Section – providing a centralised intelligence function that produces tactical, operational, and strategic insights to support business areas and undertaking a preliminary assessment triage function for all referrals received by the Branch.
- Participant Assessment and Monitoring Section – ensuring that those applying to participate in the schemes administered by the agency meet competency and capability benchmarks, maintaining an ongoing participant monitoring function and coordinating engagement and collaboration with other regulators.
- Compliance and Enforcement Section – undertaking proactive and reactive compliance activities including investigations and developing and delivering compliance and engagement programs to prevent, detect and address serious non-compliance across schemes administrated by the agency.

The Compliance Strategy and Assurance Section is a team of 10 people. The team is responsible for driving engagement on strategic compliance policy initiatives and providing a centralised audit and Assurance function within the agency.
Role Responsibilities and Duties
- Incorporating compliance and Assurance capability within emerging schemes.
- Supporting regulatory changes that will lead to technology change reform to maximise participants experience entry into schemes.
- Thinking strategically to research, investigate and analyse complex issues to develop solutions and put forward recommendations.
- Provide complex advice and support on compliance policy and regulatory matters including interpreting and applying legislative requirements.
- Prepare complex written reports and briefs to senior management and agency committees.
- Collaborate with key internal and external stakeholders to identify regulation and compliance enhancement opportunities.
- Manage the day-to-day operations of greenhouse and energy auditors which includes registration, ongoing monitoring and the auditor inspection program.
- Effectively plan, organise, and prioritise a demanding workload.
- Supervise a small team ensuring quality outputs including that employees maintain a high level of specialist, professional and/or technical expertise.
