Assistant Manager

As the Assistant Manager, you will play a vital role in supporting the Store Manager and ensuring the smooth operation of our toy store. Responsibilities:

• Collaborate closely with the Store Manager to oversee daily operations, encompassing inventory management, visual merchandising, and staff supervision.
• Assist in recruiting, training, and motivating our dedicated merchandising and nightfill teams.
• Manage nightfill team within scope of ordinary hours of work. 
• Foster effective communication and collaboration with the Visual Merchandising team to maintain consistency.
• Cultivate a welcoming and joyful in-store atmosphere, ensuring that customers consistently enjoy a positive shopping experience.
• Ensure that ticketing and signage standards align with the Toymate Visual Merchandising Guide.
• Take responsibility for all markdown and markup tasks, ensuring efficient execution on designated days or as directed by the Store Manager.
• Promptly report any non-scanning items or suspected pricing discrepancies to the relevant department.
• Proficiently operate SKU scanners and other essential equipment required for effective ticketing.
• Maintain rigorous adherence to Toymate's merchandising standards as outlined in the Toymate Visual Merchandising Guide.
• Lead the creation and maintenance of sale and feature walls/areas.
• Collaborate closely with the Store Manager in the setup and execution of new product lines, EDMs, and Toymate Toy Sales.
• Sustain product levels through a well-structured replenishment system.
• Execute merchandise handling with precision, timeliness, and safety as top priorities.

Qualifications:

• Previous retail experience, preferably in a toy store or a related industry.
• Proven track record in a supervisory or leadership role, demonstrating strong organisational and managerial skills.
• Passion for toys, with extensive knowledge of the latest toy trends, brands, and popular products.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with customers and team members.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to handle challenging situations with composure and professionalism.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multitask, and prioritize effectively.
• Proficiency in point-of-sale (POS) systems and inventory management software.
• Ability to work a fixed schedule (Sunday to Thursday) and flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as required.
