Our client is a leading fund manager with global scope who are undergoing a period of sustained growth within Australia. The Assistant Portfolio Management position offers a clear pathway to progress to Portfolio Manager with ongoing training and support. The role will support the Portfolio Managers in by managing assets to perform in line with objectives and within mandates.
Key Areas of Responsibility
The successful candidate will work with the Portfolio Manager to manage all assets of ETfs.
- Understanding the investment process for ETFs, starting from ETF purchase through to ongoing asset allocation and management.
- Monitor fund exposures daily in comparison to the underlying index.
- Conduct daily monitoring and analysis of tracking error, addressing any issues.
- Validate fund valuations daily and generate fund composition files.
- Collaborate with market makers on capital markets activities.
- Contribute to product development from concept to implementation, including index selection
- Oversee service providers to ensure adherence to SLAs.
- Maintain regular communication with legal and compliance teams to ensure regulatory compliance.
Experience Required
Ideally, applicants will have a number of key experiences:
- Degree in finance, economics, commerce or equivalent (eg.CFA)
- Ideally have 2-5 years experience within asset management, with a background in index/portfolio trading desks being advantageous.
- Strong technical proficiency in financial products, alongside robust analytical and numerical capabilities essential for calculating and interpreting portfolio management and risk metrics.
- Displays advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including VBA programming skills, with familiarity in other programming languages being beneficial.
- Capable of making decisive decisions, setting priorities, and taking prompt action, particularly in demanding environments.
- Excellent communication skills.
