Job description

The Australian Industry Trade College (AITC) is unlike any other senior school. We’re for young people who seek a deliberately different educational experience. An industry-driven one. For those who want to learn in the classroom, within workplaces, and on the job. We’re for those young people who seek to start building real-world strengths and skills now, not only in the future.

Due to an internal career progression move, we are pleased to be looking for a dynamic visionary leader with a demonstrated passion for education, and strong commitment to an innovative, industry-driven education model that connects the world of education with the world of work to join our Redlands School.

As Assistant Principal you will work closely with the Principal and Industry Operations Manager as a collaborative campus leadership team to ensure we deliver on our promise to enable and empower young people to find their purpose and proudly pursue a pathway in industry.

A contemporary and values-driven leader this key role assists the Principal in the planning, implementation and evaluation of school goals and is pivotal in the development and success of the AITC Industry Education program, raising student achievement and embedding a quality education framework.

Key outcomes of this role include:

  • A College-aligned program of industry education delivered in a manner that provides real value and tangible outcomes for our young people, in an environment where young people can thrive and succeed.
  • The Campus is effectively and efficiently run in accordance with policies and allocated budgets.
  • The College’s vision and direction for teaching and learning is clearly articulated to the Campus Community with conviction and expertise.
  • All teaching employees are informed about contemporary evidence-based pedagogies and led in their development in determined priority areas.
  • Strong connections and relationships are built within the campus community, including young people, families, employers, and employees.

Our values play a critical role in cultivating culture. They set the standards for how we behave, interact with others, make decisions, and choose to act. They are:

  • Think progressively
  • Take courageous action
  • Achieve inspiring outcomes
  • Demonstrate genuine care
  • Contribute authentically
  • Succeed collectively

Some of the qualifications and experience essential for this position are:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of senior secondary and industry education programs and curriculum development.
  • Exceptional understanding of and passion for the vocational education sector and pathways to employment for young people.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively lead people, supporting strong performance and collaboration in a dynamic, values-led culture.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate young people, and build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • A strong understanding of contemporary research, theory, and practice in pedagogy and assessment.
  • Ability to analyse, interpret and understand relevant data and information to inform plans for improvement.
  • Current knowledge of legislative obligations applicable to Equity and Diversity, Disability Services and Occupational Safety and Health, and how these impact on employment and service delivery.
  • QCT full registration and current clean drivers licence.

Desirable criteria include:

  • Tertiary business or post graduate qualifications
  • Industry exposure or experience

We value and recognise our people through a range of benefits including superannuation matching after a qualifying period, access to corporate rate health insurance, staff discounts through PerkBox, Employee Assistance Programs, and flu vaccinations to name a few.
