To complement the existing team structure, we are ideally looking for an Assistant Project Manager with exposure to commercial construction and project delivery. Ideally, we’re looking for someone with a degree in urban development, construction management, quantity surveying, or project management, combined with min. 2 years relevant industry experience. This is a great chance to join a development company where you will gain exposure to all facets of the development process, working alongside the Project Manager, CEO and Director, executing the project concept through effective delivery with the appointed main contractors.
The group undertakes a range of development projects and they’re currently involved in large-scale residential, commercial and retail mixed-use sites throughout QLD. The business has decades of experience and a successful track record of identifying and securing great sites and taking the vision to reality. They are also looking for further opportunities to add value for buyers, investors and JC partners, whilst enhancing local community outcomes.
Working closely with the Project Manager across a variety of projects, including multi-unit residential and commercial offices, you will provide initial support across the projects. Whilst getting up to speed, you will assist with the longer-term goal of transitioning into managing a wide array of responsibilities, that may include the following:
- Assist in drafting scopes of work and associated documentation;
- Assist in preparing GANTT charts and project programs;
- Attending meetings and documenting agenda items for follow up;
- Assist in preparing a project risk register and schedule tender documentation;
- Coordinate communication with consultants, Authorities, contractors and suppliers;
- Liaise with Councils, Utilities and other Statutory Authorities to obtain relevant approvals;
- Assist the project team to finalise design and develop construction documentation for tender;
- Assist in the administration of managing main contractors through the construction stage, including filing project correspondence and ongoing documentation;
- Reviewing drawings and specifications and maintaining current project registers
The group is looking for a self-motivated individual who will thrive in a role that presents different challenges every day, pushes your problem-solving capabilities and also calls on good people skills to negotiate positive outcomes for the projects. The position requires someone with attention to detail, a structured approach to following systems and processes as each project grows, strong follow up skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
This will be a dynamic role where you will be held accountable but also rapidly gain substantial knowledge and industry experience within a dynamic and professional team environment. This is an opportunity for a change of pace from construction, where you have ownership in a project from concept to completion. The group operates a 9.5 day fortnight, with every second Friday a half-day to manage the balance of work, life and other commitments.
