About Us:
Sandown Greyhound Racing Club (SGRC) races twice a week and conducts two trial training sessions weekly, 52 weeks of the year.
Reporting to the Track manager, you will be responsible for carrying out a broad range of tasks to ensure a safe racing surface and attractive environment for all stakeholders, race day patrons and visitors.
About the role, key responsibilities:
- Prepare our sand racetrack for racing and trialing in accordance with Greyhound Racing Victoria Tracks & Infrastructure Management Guidelines.
- Assist with setting up and maintaining track infrastructure and race day equipment such as starting boxes, lure system, lure rail and safety rail, catching pen and gates.
- Perform routine preventive checks track/maintenance equipment and identify areas of concern and effect repairs.
- Assist the Track Manager and other team members in undertaking minor projects.
- Delivering general venue maintenance and repairs.
- Contribute to the maintenance and presentation of SGRC’s racetrack and grounds to showcase the venue for race days.
- Assist other maintenance team members with associated maintenance tasks, as and when required.
- This position will require work on a rostered schedule including morning, afternoon, evening and occasional weekend shifts.
About you:
Essential Skills:
- Proven track record in track or grounds maintenance
- Previous experience in the fast-paced world of greyhound racing or other racing code
- Team player with collaborative spirit.
- Commitment to safety: a demonstrable understanding of work health and safety practices
Desired Skills:
- A solution focused mindset
- Ability to make decisions under pressure
- A valid Australian driver’s license is preferred
- Employment will be subject to a satisfactory police clearance
