  • Full-time, Continuing position

  • Salary HEW 10a + 17% Superannuation and Flexible Working Arrangements

  • Based at the City campus but may be required to work and/or be based at other campuses of the University.

About You

Join the College of Design and Social Context as the inaugural, Associate Director, Facilities and Technical Services. Apply your senior leadership capability and expertise in Facilities and Technical Services delivery to partner with academic leaders in the identification of emergent tools and technologies for learning and teaching and research, across the full gamut of studios, makerspaces and workshops.

You will lead the delivery of consistent, compliant, high quality, Technical Services; manage digital and physical infrastructure planning and operations, including the procurement of software, hardware and equipment; space management; asset management and adherence to workplace, health and safety legislation.

Work collaboratively with all members of the College Executive team and with staff across the College and University to ensure that the College achieves its strategic objectives. This role requires a high level of technical and workplace health and safety knowledge, along with crucial skills in providing written and verbal advice and a solid understanding of relevant legislation.

To be successful in this position, you'll have:

  • Extensive experience and expertise in the management and delivery of Technical Services and facilities within a complex organisation, preferably in the tertiary education sector.

  • Strong leadership skills and demonstrated ability to actively build and manage service-focused, multi-disciplinary teams with a commitment to staff performance and development.

  • Extensive experience in providing high-level strategic support, advice and stakeholder engagement within a large complex organisation.

  • High level problem solving and analytical skills, and the ability to think strategically and act tactically based on organisational objectives and priorities.

  • Proven budget and financial management and strategic planning skills and experience.

  • Extensive expertise in change management and project management.

  • Demonstrated extensive experience in the development, interpretation, and implementation of policy and procedure.

  • High level interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to lead, direct and influence others, to build and maintain effective and productive relationships with a wide range of internal and external groups, and to deal effectively with conflicting requirements from diverse stakeholders.
