About the Role
The Associate Director (AD) is a trusted position, working closely with the Deputy Vice Chancellor International & Engagement. The AD provides informed advice, insights, and leadership to the Office of the DVC to enable effective planning and execution of strategic and operational initiatives.
The role collaborates across both the I&E and broader University leadership group, effectively acting as the glue that brings all the elements of the I&E portfolio together and ensures their planning and operational execution are aligned to the Universities operational goals and long-term strategy.
About You
An established leader with strong sector specific experience, you are motivated by the challenge of working in complex and changing environments with a broad range of academic and operational leaders to lead initiatives, resolve problems and challenges and deliver high impact outcomes.
To be successful in this position, you'll have:
- Extensive knowledge of the Higher Education and ideally Vocational Education and Training including the global environmental challenges and the importance of research, innovation, and education.
- Strong experience in collaborating with senior executives in a comparable role providing informed advice deliver strategic outcomes.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with a high level of emotional intelligence.
- Experience working internationally or delivering initiatives internationally with the demonstrated ability to operate with cultural sensitivity.
- Excellent planning and project management skills and experience.
- Strong commercial acumen including the ability to interpret relevant data and market insights.
- Personally driven and highly productive.
About the International and Engagement Portfolio
The International and Engagement portfolio is responsible for RMIT's international strategy and agenda, including international development and partnerships and oversight of our international operations including RMIT Vietnam and RMIT Europe. It also incorporates the university's key engagement functions including communications, experience (global marketing, global student recruitment, alumni), and business development, partnerships and philanthropy.
We work across time zones, which necessitates a focus on inclusivity and effective information sharing, and most of our leadership meetings are hybrid meetings to enable engagement with colleagues from both Vietnam and Europe.
