About the Role:
Reporting to the University Librarian and working closely with colleagues across the Library and University, the Associate Director (Scholarly Resources and Strategic Initiatives) will be a key contributor to the development and implementation of a future focused vision and strategy for VU Libraries at a time of transformation and significant opportunity.
The role represents VU Library in various internal and external committees, including the CAUL Deputies Network, and occasionally acts as a proxy for the University Librarian.
This position will be offered on a full-time ongoing basis at the classification level of HEP 9 classification, with salary of $124,066 - 129,080 per annum plus 17% employer superannuation contribution, working 36.75 hours per week.
Some of the duties you will perform are:
- Leading the Library’s operations in relation to Copyright and Archives and ensure effective management of services and process related to compliance obligations.
- Providing oversight of the Library’s collections development policy and ensure acquisition and procurement of information resources aligns with University teaching, learning and research priorities and strategy
- Providing oversight of the Library’s information resources budget including contributing to annual budget submissions and monitoring quarterly performance
- Providing strategic advice to the University Librarian and participate in planning and setting of direction and as required, act for the University Librarian.
- Monitoring the publishing landscape to ensure expenditure of the University’s information resources budget is strategic and represents value based on the University’s teaching, learning and research priorities
- Developing and maintain knowledge of developments in relation to open scholarship (open access and open education resources) and provide high level advice to senior University stakeholders in relation to implications for grant submissions, impact and engagement and equity of access

- Possess the Ability to align planning and operations across the University and Library
- Possess highly developed communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills
- Are experienced and highly proficient in:
o Crafting reports and presentations for senior audience
o Facilitating and chairing high-level meetings and workshops
o Management of staff, functions and teams
o Collaboration and negotiation
o Delivering high-quality services and outcomes based on strategic priorities
