We’re looking for a Associate Rail Engineer to join the Melbourne team.
As an Associate Rail Engineer you will join the Railways Group and become a key member of our client's growing Rail group.
Reporting line: Managing Practice Consultant – Railways
What you’ll do
- Deliver rolling stock engineering services that meet its clients and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Initiate, manage, and supervise engineering assignments on projects that meet project requirements of safety, quality, time and budget.
- Perform specific engineering tasks such as,
- Ensure that the project scope is clear and that changes to the scope comply with project change management processes.
- Assist with the preparation of project documentation such as proposals, estimates, budgets and schedules.
- Conduct or contribute to studies and recommend actions.
- Prepare and/or oversee the production of detailed designs and drawings, specifications, data, calculations and reports.
- Contribute substantially to rolling stock procurement, design, manufacturing, and commissioning efforts. This includes drafting Technical Specifications and evaluating Manufacturer Tenders in detail.
- Provide technical support, supervision and advice to the discipline and project teams.
- When responsible for a team,
- Define project requirements, delegate tasks, and oversee team activities
- Ensure the required services meet the applicable statutory and regulatory requirements:
- Provide on the job training for others in the Railways Team.
- Communicate effectively with the Railways Team, its clients, prospective clients and other project stakeholders and make presentations as required.
- Identify issues and problems; develop appropriate and innovative solutions and ask for assistance when required.
- Keep up to date with the latest developments and technical innovations in the rail industry. Working within multidisciplinary rail infrastructure teams in the development of urban, regional and resource rail projects.
- Managing the integration of rolling stock with other rail elements in both brownfield and greenfield projects.
- Utilising industry-leading softwares for engineering design calculations and support HSE initatives through modeling and implementation.
What you’ll have
- As a minimum requirement the successful candidate will hold an industry recognised Bachelor of Engineering (BEng).
- Excellent customer focus
- Previous experience with rail software packages and the latest state of the art aspects.
- Willingness to travel interstate and internationally; possess unrestricted Australian driver’s license.
- Effective management skills, including the ability to plan, set goals and manage time, priorities, resources, accountabilities, schedules and cost.
- Negotiates successful outcomes that achieve the required objectives and have the support and acceptance of all parties.
- Make presentations when required.
- A passion for Rail Engineering and a high degree of technical excellence in rolling stock engineering.
- Proven track record in reviewing routine technical designs, collaborating with academic institutions on cutting-edge rail design methodologies, and exhibiting comprehensive expertise in coordinating complex rail projects throughout development and delivery phases.
- Relevant years of Consulting experience in a seller doer role.
