The role

We are seeking an Associate Environmental/Civil Engineer/Scientist to join our growing Waste & Resource Recovery team.

With 10+ years’ experience, ideally within circular economy, you will assist in delivering circular economy advisory and strategy projects; waste, resource recovery and recycling infrastructure approvals and design; and managing client relationships and business development activities.

Experience in resource recovery facility design or implementation would also be highly regarded.

As a member of SMEC’s diverse team of infrastructure specialists, there is opportunity to work across multidisciplinary projects.

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Advising clients on circular economy initiatives, strategies and policies
  • Project management of resource recovery infrastructure planning and design and other waste and circular economy related projects
  • Technical input into waste infrastructure approvals and designs including materials recycling facilities, organics facilities and resource recovery centres
  • Building and maintaining relationships with clients and key stakeholders

Ideal applicants will have/be:

  • Environmental/Civil Engineering/Science qualifications, or similar
  • 10+ years' experience, ideally within the circular economy and waste & resource recovery industry
  • Proven project management and client relationship management capability
  • Excellent communication skills, verbally and written
