The Currumbin RSL Group is one of the most reputable employers on the Southern Gold Coast, providing career paths for the 190+ local community members who have joined our team.  The group is made up of a number of businesses including Currumbin RSL a licensed club, Ignite Education a Registered Training Organisation, Dune Café an offsite café and the Ron Workman OAM Veteran Support Centre.  Our primary purpose is to serve the veteran community but, with over 45,000 members we also offer support to the wider community including 13 local schools, sporting teams and various community groups. 

About the Opportunity

This is an opportunity for an experienced Banquets Sous Chef to join the Waterside kitchen leadership team here at Currumbin RSL.  Your passion and strength in leadership will ensure that you and your team provide the highest possible standard of food in accordance with established menu plans and recipes.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Culinary qualification (Commercial Cookery Cert III or higher)
  • Previous experience in a Banquet Sous Chef role within a high volume, bulk production kitchen
  • High level interpersonal and communication skills 
  • Ability to work autonomously. 
  • Willingness to work with our Events team to ensure our clients are provided with an exceptional experience.
  • Flexibility to work across a rotating roster including days, nights, weekends and public holidays.
  • Basic to intermediate computer skills

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with your kitchen team to provide our customers with the highest of standard meals.
  • Lead, develop and mentor a kitchen brigade, including our Apprentice Chefs
  • Assist the Executive Chef with ordering requirements.
  • Plan and monitor workflow and rosters to ensure efficiencies.
