About the Role
Our future-focused Strategy & Growth team within Downer's Industrial and Energy business unit has an exciting new opportunity for a Bid Manager to join the team. This role reports directly to the Strategy & Growth Manager and will be based out of our Perth office.
The Bid Manager is responsible for developing winning tenders and proposals from the planning phase of an opportunity, through the development of a winning bid, approvals and governance requirements, to negotiations, contract award and handover to operations. This role requires an experienced Bid Manager who can drive excellent communication with both internal and external stakeholders. You will be effective in bringing together all of the elements of a compelling solution for our clients, whilst managing internal approval and governance requirements. Key responsibilities include:
- Lead the development, shaping, bidding and winning activity of project opportunities
- Lead assigned tender teams through the tender and post tender phases of opportunities ensuring bids and tenders are planned, prepared and delivered in line with Downer Industrial & Energy's business strategy
- Write and produce bid and tender development process plans, preparing for negotiation and handover phase
- Ensure all bids are properly shaped and appropriate win themes and go/no-go processes are undertaken
- Manage internal governance processes associated with opportunities based on risk, time schedule and cost in accordance with the Downer standard
- Manage stakeholder communications, queries, negotiations and post-tender interviews
- Assist in identifying and building a robust pipeline of potential new opportunities
- Assist in delivering client presentations.
About You
- Formal qualifications (Diploma, Advanced Diploma, or Bachelor's degree in a Engineering, Construction of Business discipline for example) preferred, but not essential
- At least five years' experience in a similar role, which may include operational roles. Preference will be to a to candidates who have experience within the Industrial and Energy sectors
- Experience leading complex Maintenance, Construct Only, or Design & Construction bids
- High level of communication and interpersonal skills
- Due to the nature of tender/bid deadlines, flexibility in work hours is required. (i.e. not always between the hours of 8.00am-5.00pm)
- Be available to travel nationally to attend site visits and attend meetings with clients as required - although infrequent.
