Nature Conservation is an independent, community-based, not-for-profit organisation. We work with the community to combine the grassroots support with sound conservation science, advocacy and policy initiatives to achieve sustainable environmental outcomes for the Margaret River region.
This is reflected in a commitment to community consultation, collaborative partnerships and co-ordinated action. Nature Conservation undertakes a range of programs and projects encompassing planning, monitoring, research, on-ground action, awareness raising, education and capacity building.
Nature Conservation has an established two landscape scale Co-ordinated Environmental Weed Control Programs - Arum Blitz and Woody Weed Campaign. We are seeking two motivated, experienced Project Officers to grow and build these programs
Experience and Qualifications
We are seeking officers on a 0.9 FTE and a 0.5 FTE capacity for the two projects, dedicated to environmental protection and restoration and community engagement with:
- Tertiary qualification in environmental sciences, natural resource management or equivalent experience.
- Experience in developing and managing conservation and engagement projects, and/or environmental management.
- Knowledge and understanding of the key environmental and NRM issues and opportunities in the Margaret River region, including a passion for the local environment.
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills to enable effective communication with a range of stakeholders.
- Capacity to work independently, organise work, manage budgets and meet deadlines.
- Experience in GIS, field mapping, and developing and managing spatial datasets.
- Experience working with landholders and volunteers.
- Strong proposal, report writing ability and technical writing skills.
- Current ‘C’ Class Driver’s License.
