AddressMcEvoy Mitchell Racing has an exciting new job opportunity to support our Sales Team in the role of Bloodstock Assistant.
This is a newly created position to support our Sales Team in all matters concerning Bloodstock. The role will involve working with a small, passionate team to assist with the buying and selling of bloodstock; primarily yearlings, though this role will also include managing online sales for horses that are moving on in their racing careers. This is a full-time role, Monday to Friday and based out of our stables in Ballarat, Victoria. Some weekend and after hours work may be necessary where reasonably required, such as during the yearling sales period.
Duties
- Assist with the buying & selling of all horses, including horses purchased at the yearling sales throughout the year, and using online sales platforms such as Inglis Digital and Bloodstock Auctions to move on horses that are not performing in our stable.
- Liaise with Yearling Sales Offices, acting as the primary point of contact to provide Trainers schedules, updates and requirements.
- Booking and managing all travel logistics for sales season
- Attend yearling sales as needed to provide on-site support.
- Provide administrative assistance to the Trainers to facilitate sales, including e-mail support and note-taking, as well as managing clients to follow up.
- Manage and assist with broodmare sale nominations where required.
- Write sales spiels for horses to be sold – including online auctions and yearlings.
- Keep detailed records of all horse purchases and registrations of interest
- Maintain and develop existing relationships with clients, including attending client events and assisting with local corporate box management.
This role would suit an up-and-comer in the industry; potentially someone who has had hands on experience in a racing stable but who is truly passionate about the bloodstock and sales side of the industry. The right candidate will have a strong eye for detail and organisational skills, as well as be an excellent communicator both via written word and in person. Working knowledge of a computer is required, including proficient skills in Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel.
Ongoing training will be provided to the successful applicant, however knowledge and understanding of bloodstock and sales will be highly regarded.
