Disability Advocacy and Complaints Service of South Australia Inc (DACSSA) is a client-focussed organisation providing free, independent individual and systemic advocacy for South Australians living with disabilities. DACSSA contributes to the promotion, protection, and defence of full human rights for people with disability while empowering them to control their lives. Being a highly visible leader of advocacy, DACSSA seeks to build on the individual strengths of people with disability and enable community capacity building. Funded by the Australian Government Department of Social Services, DACSSA is a not-for-profit organisation overseen by an established board passionate about supporting the human rights of people living with disability.
Expressions of interest are sought from suitably qualified persons for voluntary Board Members. Responsibilities include:
- Attending and actively contributing to decision making through monthly Board meetings;
- Offering expertise in relation to finance, business or law;
- Ensuring effective governance and organisational performance;
- Contributing to and review of strategic plans and risk management;
- Participating on special purpose committees;
- Ensuring that business decisions reflect and align with the organisation’s values.
Applicants with an understanding of the not-for-profit, social services or disability sector are encouraged to apply. DACCSA is seeking candidates with demonstrated expertise in Finance, Accounting, Business, Law or Governance with previous Board experience and/or GAICD qualifications. The ideal candidates will have the desire to contribute towards DACSSA’s purpose with a strong alignment with their values.
