About the Opportunity
As part of the Regulatory Services Program the Development Compliance Officer provides the effective and efficient delivery of Council’s compliance functions and provides specialist building code and building related legislative advice to internal and external customers.
In this exciting and diverse role, you will see yourself:
- Providing professional Building Compliance services by undertaking development inspections in the CBD and North Adelaide
- Undertake detailed high-quality inspections of existing buildings and buildings under construction in accordance with the current City of Adelaide Building Inspection Policy.
- Assisting in public awareness of the development process and the associated legislative requirements.
- Implementing appropriate, timely responses to dangerous structures and emergency situations.
- Attending to appeal matters, including preparation of evidence documents and Court appearances.
About You
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Demonstrated ability to assess and analyse Building Compliance matters and determine solutions in an effective and timely manner.
- High level of written and oral communication with report writing skills desirable
- Ability to work in an open, collaborative project-based environment and communicate and assist people to manage work and resources across a range of projects/tasks
- Demonstrated ability to assess and analyse Building Compliance matters and determine solutions in an effective and timely manner.
- High professional ethics and a commitment to internal and external customers demonstrated through the provision of timely, reliable, and expert advice on development compliance matters.
- Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships to consult, negotiate and communicate with all staff, government agencies, stakeholders and the community, both verbally and in writing.
- Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the Building Rules as defined in the Development Act 1993 and the Planning Development & Infrastructure Act 2016.
