About the Role
At Teachers Mutual Bank Limited our Finance and Treasury department plays a crucial role in ensuring the stability and success of our operations. Dedicated to maintaining the financial integrity and stability of the Bank, Finance ensures that all financial activities are conducted in a transparent, compliant and efficient manner. By providing comprehensive financial oversight and strategic insights, the Finance team plays a pivotal role in supporting the Bank’s mission and objectives.
  
The team is responsible for a wide array of critical functions that support both the day-to-day operations and long-term strategic planning. Key responsibilities include Financial Reporting, Financial Control, Treasury, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), Budgeting and Forecasting, Regulatory Reporting, Stress Testing, Tax Compliance and Reporting, Payroll and Accounts Payable. Working closely with the Bank’s line 2 Risk Division, we are committed to fostering a culture of risk awareness and compliance to protect the interest of our members and stakeholders.
  
As a Business Risk/Control Manager within Finance and Treasury, you will be responsible for identifying, assessing and mitigating risks to ensure the effective management of financial operations. You will work closely with various stakeholders to implement and embed robust risk management practices in line with the Bank’s Risk Management Framework, enhancing the control environment and providing insights to enhancing decision making processes.
  
About You
  • Champion and provide expertise in managing financial and non-financial risk within the Bank’s Finance and Treasury department
  • Assess the adequacy and strength of the control environment and provide timely assurance that the Finance and Treasury department is operating within frameworks and policies
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and ensure compliance with internal and external regulatory requirements
  • Monitor and report on risk exposures, control effectiveness and risk mitigation activities to senior management
  • Collaborate with Finance and Treasury members to embed a risk-aware culture and promote best practices in risk management
  • Provide guidance and training to staff on risk management process and procedures
  • Assist in the preparation and maintenance of risk-related documentation
  • Liaise with Internal Audit, Compliance and other Risk Management teams to ensure a coordinated approach to risk management
  • Attend and support Departmental Executives in their risk presentations to the Board Risk and Compliance Committee
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, regulatory changes and emerging risks that may impact the Bank’s operations
  • Lead or participate in risk-related projects and initiatives as required
  
Skills & Qualifications
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline (e.g. Risk Management, Business Management or Financial Management).
  • Well-developed technical skills relating to Enterprise Risk management-related activities.
  • Work experience in a senior risk management role within a financial institution.
  • Strong interpersonal skills - particularly in relation to stakeholder nfluencing and negotiating.
  • Well-developed communication skills - both written and verbal.
  • Well-developed facilitation skills including experience running Risk workshops.
  • Practical knowledge of / experience with:
  • o ISO 31000:2018 Risk Management - Principles and Guidelines,
  • o Australian Prudential Standards
  • o ASIC Regulatory Requirements and
  • o International regulatory framework for Banks (Basel)
