About the OPPORTUNITY
We currently have 3 opportunities for Business Development Managers, based at either our Canberra, South Australia, Melbourne or NSW offices. We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as working a 9-day fortnight and/or hybrid working.
You will be responsible for:
As a Business Development Manager you will be responsible for the identification and pursuit of strategically valuable opportunities across relevant markets. The role will be primarily externally focused and reports to the Business Development and Strategy Manager - Defence Delivery.
Key responsibilities include:
- Build and maintain relevant relationships with key customer and industry stakeholders.
- With support, identify, qualify and pursue profitable opportunities within the Australian defence market.
- Lead the submission of responses to early customer approaches to market including Requests for Information and Invitations to Register Interest.
- Conduct external engagements (Defence and industry), including preparation of briefing material and support to internal post meeting reporting/actions.
- Support the development, maintenance and delivery of domain strategic plans.
- Conduct competitive market research to identify new business opportunities, potential competition and teaming partners.
- Maintain competitor and market intelligence data sources
- Represent the company and lead engagement in forums such as trade shows, industry events and customer engagement activities, including with senior Government and Defence officials.
- Provide insights into Defence customer/end user needs for product development and marketing activities.
About YOU
- Australian citizen and eligible to obtain and maintain a Defence Security Clearance.
- A driven and dynamic nature and a focus on developing a strong network within the Defence enterprise
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Domain expertise in guided weapons, aerospace systems, autonomous systems, and/or military operations.
- Familiarity with Defence acquisition and requirements landscape and strategic environment, including allies and partners.
- Strong experience in all Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Powerpoint.
- Degree qualification (or equivalent) in any relevant discipline is desirable.
- Very strong analytical thinking and problem solving skills.
- Good business acumen and understanding of risk, organisational issues and challenges.
- Understanding of Business Development tools and processes.
- Understanding of broader business functions including Strategy, Government Relations, Capture and Communications.
