BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER – NORTHERN RIVERS, NORTH COAST & NEW ENGLAND REGIONS
Position Overview:
Your role as the Business Development Manager of Independent Liquor Retailers will be to focus on building store growth through recruitment of new venues and identifying sales growth opportunities in the current membership base within the region.
The goal of the BDM is to drive sustainable financial growth by boosting sales and forging strong relationships with venues. It is also imperative that you identify and actively pursue opportunities for business growth, provide members with knowledgeable product advice, guide their product/service choices to meet their needs and resolve any customer issues and complaints to ensure member satisfaction.
Who We Are:
Independent Liquor Retailers (ILR) was originally formed in February 2002 with an aim to become a "proudly local, truly independent" members driven group within the independent liquor space. We currently have over 400 members across Australia with an annual turnover in excess of $200 million.
Responsibilities:
- Implement and further develop our growth strategy, aligned with company objectives which is focused both on increasing revenue and membership satisfaction
- Identify key target venues, and create effective strategies to recruit these stores
- Conduct thorough market research to identify new business opportunities, trends and members needs
- Analyse industry data and competitor strategies to inform our Business Development approach
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities through lead generation and networking.
- Develop and present compelling proposals to potential members, addressing their unique needs and challenges
- Selling in of ILR programs and initiatives
- Presenting current promotional campaigns and checking execution standards
- Report discussions and follow ups via our CRM system
- Implementation of category management and conducting store relays
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential members, supplier partners and distributors
- Be the primary point of contact for all member issues and enquiries

The Ideal Candidate Has:
- Experience in a similar role in the liquor industry
- Experience as a relationship manager, liquor store manager, or a similar role
- Ability to build and maintain strong business relationships
- Great organisation and time management skills with the ability to plan ahead
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM software
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Good sales, influencing and negotiation skills
- Strong customer service orientation
- The ability to travel
