ABOUT THE POSITION:
The Business Development Manager plays a key part in our company. You will be responsible for bringing in new business and maintaining the existing client base to lead Treadwell Group to achieve targets within the whole region of Victoria (VIC) and Tasmania (TAS).
MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Understanding client requirements and presenting appropriate solutions to covert Sales leads to business opportunities;
- Maintaining and developing relationships with existing clients in person and via telephone calls and emails;
- Cold Calling (phone primarily, but not limited to phone only) to arrange meetings/appointments with potential clients to prospect for new business;
- Travelling to clients and potential clients' places of business to make sales presentations regularly, either individually or with another member of the team;
- Negotiating the terms of an agreement and closing deals;
- Working closely with the Product Specialist to obtain valuable product-specific information and increase our chances of winning a job;
- Representing the company at trade exhibitions, events and demonstrations;
- Challenging any objections with a view of getting the client to buy;
- Advising on forthcoming product developments and discussing special promotions;
- Creating detailed proposal documents, often as part of a formal bidding process which the prospective client largely dictates;
- Recording sales and order information on a computer;
- Gaining a clear understanding of clients’ businesses and requirements;
- Reviewing own sales performance, aiming to meet or exceed targets;
- Making accurate, rapid cost calculations and providing clients with sales proposals/quotations.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Demonstrated involvement in selling a technical solution-based product;
- Strong relationship-building skills;
- Able to conduct market research on related products
- Confident with strong written and verbal communication skills
- Able to present products and services in a professional structured manner face-to-face to clients
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- A Business Development, Engineering, Sales or Marketing background will be beneficial.
- Teamwork skills
- Driver’s license
- Able to work with limited supervision
- Results-oriented while maintaining attention to detail
- Ability and willingness to learn
