An exciting opportunity has become available in our Recreation Services team for a Business Development Officer on a permanent part time basis, working 22.8 hours a week (0.6 FTE).
In this role, reporting to the Coordinator Business Development and based at Lords Recreation Centre, the successful applicant will develop and implement a range of communications plans and activities for Lords to inform and engage the community. They will identify and leverage strategic opportunities and partnerships to increase participation and revenue in programs and services and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders across the organisation.
The key responsibilities of this role include:
- Identify, develop and implement new opportunities for strategy and/or processes improvement to services and offerings.
- Develop an annual Business Development strategy.
- Develop and implement new marketing initiatives with the Social Media and Marketing Officer, including setting goals/KPI's and growth projection for programs and services.
- Contribute to development and review of the Recreation Services Branch plan.
- Engage with local business and groups to promote Lords and build effective working relationships to cross promote services.
- Develop and implement strategy for Lords to attend relevant community events to promote programs and services, and general brand awareness.
- Undertake market research and analysis, maintaining awareness of key market segments and demographics.
- Develop and implement an internal marketing and communications plan.
- Regularly scan the media environment and monitor relevant Lords issues.
- Assist marketing budget preparation including sourcing quotations, raising purchase orders and tracking expenditure.
- Assist with developing and maintaining digital communications channels (website, e-newsletter, social media platforms, internal digital screens, etc.) as required.
- Ensure Lords and the City's brand are represented consistently and appropriately as per the grammatical and design house style manual and other branding tools.
- Liaise with the City's Communications branch to identify media and publication opportunities.
- Contribute to City publications including Talk About Subi and Subiaco Scene.
- Provide media relation and communications advice and support to the Communications Branch.
- Liaise with the Communications Branch to ensure Lords' pages on the City's website are continuously updated with current, accurate, and interesting information.
- Prepare memorandums, Council reports and Elected Member Information Bulletin content.
- Proactively prepare media releases and media opportunities to promote programs and services, initiatives and achievements.
- Maintain understanding and awareness of current affairs with a particular focus on Local Government and recreation issues.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Bachelor of Communications or appropriate qualification and/or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated ability to develop, implement and maintain innovative communications plans and strategies.
- Demonstrated experience in the development of business and marketing plans and strategies to achieve optimal revenue growth.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the sport, recreation and/or leisure industry.
- Excellent written communication skills with demonstrated ability to prepare a wide range of communications material for a diverse range of audience and mediums.
- Sound project management and problem-solving skills.
- Well-developed and proven interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to produce high quality work within agree and at times within short timeframes requested.
- Ability to use corporate computer systems and website content management systems.
- Current Working with Children Check.
- Current National Police Clearance.

Salary Range: $40.49 per hour to $46.03 per hour plus 11% employer superannuation and additional co-contribution to your superannuation.
