Breakaway Toowoomba Inc. (Breakaway) has been providing quality services to people with a disability in the Toowoomba region for over 36 years. We began as a small family-based organisation, providing respite for children with disabilities and have since grown and diversified our organisation to include respite for people of all ages, independent living, community participation, in home support, social groups and NDIS access support, employing over 130 local staff.

About the Role
As the Business Development Officer, you will be responsible for identifying and cultivating new business opportunities, establishing and maintaining partnerships, and contributing to the overall strategic development of the business. Likewise, you will collaborate with internal teams to ensure the successful implementation of new initiatives and enhance the quality of services provided to individuals with disabilities.
Furthermore, you will be responsible for:
- Building connections (networking and engagement) with others to elevate Breakaway’s visibility within both community and business domains
- Organising quarterly Breakaway's Community of Practice and support the Community and Consumer Advisory Group
- Preparing for and participating in organisational community led events such as expos and the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers
- Providing regular updates on engagement, grants, and Business Development opportunities to management
- Conducting and analysing market research to identify trends, needs, and opportunities within the disability and health sectors, so as to develop strategies for business expansion and service improvement
- Evaluating engagement feedback to inform growth opportunities, future planning, and written grant submissions, monitoring procurement and tendering platforms for such opportunities
- Proactively research and develop ideas, engaging with stakeholders, to identify organisational gaps and barriers. Use this information to identify and apply for suitable grant opportunities on behalf of Breakaway
- Coordinating and implementing project plans/activities and manage the project life cycle of successful grant applications, as required
- Preparing and submitting financial acquittal reports on funded activities and manage grant budgets for projects
- Attending to business services projects, where requested and as required
- Assist with keeping organisational registers current
- Backfill and coverage of reception, where requested and as required.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Minimum two (2) years’ experience in a similar role
- Highly motivated to engage and network with people and organisations, with corresponding experience
- Proven experience in Business Development, preferably within the disability sector or a related field
- Demonstrated Project Management skills including project management, engagement and implementation plans
- Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills
- A strong collaborator across teams and with external stakeholders
- Strong organisational skills and time management skills
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy
- High level of comprehension skills
- Strong computer and administration skills
- Professional attitude and presentation
- Current Blue Card and NDIS Worker Screening Check or willingness to apply
- Current Driver's licence (minimum provisional).
