An opportunity exists to provide high level executive and Business Support to the independent Work Health and Safety Prosecutor.
The Office of the Work Health and Safety Prosecutor (OWHSP) is an independent prosecution office established under the Work Health and Safety Act 2011. Its role is to conduct and defend proceedings for breaches of Queensland’s work health and safety laws, including serious offences in the resources sector.
The OWHSP provides high quality legal advice and an effective prosecution service for matters investigated and referred by the Office of Industrial Relations (OIR) and Resources Safety and Health Queensland (RSHQ).
The Business Support Officer, (AO4) is a role in which you will support the Work Health and Safety Prosecutor and his office by:
- Coordinating appointments and meetings, including the setting of agendas, preparation, collation and distribution of papers and follow up of action items.
- Booking meeting rooms, video or phone conferencing facilities.
- Preparing correspondence, undertaking research and assisting in the preparation of reports, including the WHSP's Annual Report to the Minister.
- Coordinating and responding to requests for briefing documents to the Director-General, Deputy Director-General, or Minister on behalf of the OWHSP.
- Monitoring incoming paper based and electronic correspondence and legal documentation in a complex and confidential work environment and ensuring timelines, quality assurance and corporate identity requirements are met.
- Managing the WHSP's domestic and international travel for meetings, delegations and conferences including researching all associated activities and arranging pre-briefings for these events.
- Supporting coordination of OWHSP projects and initiatives.
- Utilising administrative systems and procedures to provide effective information management and reporting.
- Developing and maintaining positive relationships with key internal and external stakeholders including the offices of the Deputy Director-General, Minister and other business units and current and potential stakeholders.
