Appointment Pool
Ocean Reef Senior High School (SHS) is seeking to establish a pool of Business Support Officers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2024 school year and up to the end of Term 1, 2025. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2024 school year, up to the end of Term 1, 2025.
The Business Support Officer role includes assisting the Manager Corporate Services in the administrative, financial, marketing, physical and human resources aspects of the school's operations. Suitable applicants should assist in providing high-level operational and Business Support across the school administration, corporate services and leadership team. Knowledge and understanding of policies, procedures and legislation relevant to business operations is desirable.
Suitable applicants should be able to effectively prioritise tasks, meet deadlines and work well under pressure with a high level of accuracy and detail. We are seeking organised applicants, ideally with highly developed interpersonal skills. Experience with the RM Finance and Billing software systems, HRMIS and Compass would be highly desirable.

The role of Business Support Officer may be created in a school under the provisions of either the Public Sector CSA Agreement 2022 or the Department of Education (School Support Officers) CSA Agreement 2022. The school will determine which is appropriate, when creating a new position or filling a vacant position.
Applicants will be required to choose their preference between agreements or both in their application. Please note that SSO employees receive paid leave throughout student vacation periods, in lieu of annual leave, but PSCA employees receive 4 weeks of annual leave (for full-time employees). Other differences in conditions may apply.

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):
- Considerable experience providing input and effective support to the development, management, implementation and monitoring of business operations, systems and plans.
- Well developed financial management skills, including data analysis, interpretation and reporting, and the ability to provide recommendations.
- Sound human resource management knowledge and skills, including the ability to provide effective support and input into the development, implementation and monitoring of human resource management systems and processes.
- Sound verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Sound conceptual, analytical and problem solving skills and the ability to identify appropriate solutions.

Eligibility and training requirements
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
