We are seeking a proactive Buyer based in Canning Vale, WA who will be responsible for undertaking the purchase of a Meat portfolio which delivers on sales budgets. This role will co-ordinate and execute the State Meat business plan in order to achieve State sales budgets for Metcash and also deliver profitable business objectives for Retailer. This role has a direct reporting line in to the State Fresh Manager.
What you’ll do
Undertake buying in a fresh category for the State
- Work with suppliers to maximise buying opportunities and deliver business plans that maximise sales
- Develop, negotiate and implement State as well as implementing National promotional and sales initiatives to maximise sales, profit and income objectives
Ensure financial management controls are in place
- Achieve sales budgets as per State Plan.
- Work with Retail Operations
- Effectively manage product through minimising loss.
Work with Retail Operations to develop retailer initiatives and build relationships
- In conjunction with Retail Operations, ensure that Fresh products on offer assist retailers to be compliant in ranging, pricing, promotions, layouts & planograms.
- Provide retailers with up to date category specific initiatives and knowledge to enable informative decision making.
Assist in the management of promotions.
- Provide constructive feedback to the State Fresh Manager on product sales and margin promotional performance.
- Deliver on agreed measurements to drive sales.
Work with Warehouse Management to ensure product management & distribution.
- Manage and communicate in regard to product range, deletions and new lines.
- Undertake retail pricing management in line with category model.

- Sound product knowledge of industry goods.
