The Opportunities
General Merchandise – 6-month fixed term
A diverse portfolio of categories encompassing Pets, Stationery, Gifting & Home Décor with the opportunity to work with International brands. This fixed term contract role will provide an introduction to buying & ranging and can be adapted to ensure the successful candidate receives well-rounded development experience.
Tabletop & Designer Homewares – 8-month fixed term
An exciting growth portfolio that includes popular Designer Homewares brands such as Dinosaur Designs, In the Roundhouse, Fornasetti and more! Opportunity to work with local & International suppliers and always looking to source the latest & greatest fashion homewares brands. This role will work closely with Marketing, Online, VM & stores and will provide exposure to overseas imports & supply chain management.
Electricals – permanent
Working with much-loved, premium brands such as such as Dyson, KitchenAid, Breville and Apple. The Buyers Assistant will oversee their own Buyership of at least one high-profile brand and will collaborate with other key business functions to help drive the commercial success of the portfolio.
With a hybrid mix of time in the office and from home, these roles will suit a highly commercial and customer-centric Buyers Assistant who thrives in a fast-paced and commercially evolving environment.
What does the role involve?
- Raise and manage purchase orders
- Monitor product performance and manage promotional campaigns, closely monitoring competitor offerings to maintain a competitive advantage in the market
- Working with the Merchandise Planner, other Buyer’s Assistants across the Appliances business, as well as the store management teams to effectively manage stock to satisfy customer demand, which may include weekly stock ordering and allocations
- In conjunction with the Buyer, maintain effective relationships with suppliers and support with the identification of new business opportunities and trends
- Assist the Buyer to maintain reorders within brand maps and price curves
- Monitor advertising stock back up and performance, inclusive of ticketing and sample coordination
- Monitor basic stock performance and recommend relevant action to Buyer/ Merchandise Planner as necessary
- Work directly with our store teams to seek customer feedback and the implementation of store strategic initiatives
What are we looking for?
- Demonstrated experience working within a retail environment, in a buying, planning or allocations role, with a passion for retail, electricals, and in pursuing a career in buying
- Intermediate skills on Microsoft Excel including using VLOOKUP’s and pivot tables
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong communication skills with the confidence to engage with stakeholders internally and externally
- Ability to prioritise and meet conflicting deadlines
- A proactive self-starter who will holds themselves accountability for their professional development
