We currently have an exciting role for you to join the Development Services Team as a Cadet Building Development Officer.
As the Cadet Building Development Officer, you will provide development administration support, planning assessment and customer service for the community in a supportive learning environment with a great team of Building Development professionals.
This role would suit someone looking to commence their Building Development career and would like to grow their professional skills learning from the experienced building team at City of PAE.
Key responsibilities of the position include:
- Working as part of the building team where you will assist with the efficient assessment of building applications together with the active monitoring of building construction processes.
- Providing professional building surveying and development-related advice to the public, government authorities, and stakeholders.
- Collaborating within the Development Department and other departments to foster a coordinated approach to assessing development proposals within the City.
- Analyse and drive innovation to proactively enhance systems and processes, ensuring effective and efficient service delivery and outcomes.
- Evaluate simple and minor applications for Building Rules Consent, under the Planning, Development, and Infrastructure Act and Regulations, National Construction Code, and other relevant legislation, while maintaining a high standard of decision-making.
- Under direction from Senior Officers, undertake inspections of buildings to ensure compliance with appropriate construction standards and oversee necessary rectifications when needed.
- Assisting with investigations and compliance/enforcement actions in response to alleged breaches of the Planning, Development, and Infrastructure Act and Regulations, National Construction Code, and other related legislation.
The successful applicant will have:
- Be undertaking studies toward obtaining accreditation under the Accredited Professionals Scheme at Building Surveyor - Level 3.
- Current Drivers Licence (essential).
- Building trade qualifications or building industry experience (desirable).
- Demonstrated customer service experience.

This is a Level 3 position which has a current salary range of $83,342 - $89,629 (plus superannuation).
