- Salary Level 3, Step 1 $37.72 per hour or $74,547 per annum (adjusted to hours worked) including annual leave loading plus superannuation
What you'll do
You will provide support to staff and provide advice to the general public around building matters in order to ensure that development within West Torrens is of a high quality standard and meets obligations within the Planning, Development and Infrastructure Act 2016. Development is a growing industry in South Australia and West Torrens is a sought after metropolitan location to live and work, due to its close proximity to both the CBD and the coast.
As our Cadet Development Officer, Building, you will:
- assist in processing building rules consent applications
- assist in site visits and inspections
- process mandatory notifications
- provide advice to the community
- support staff undertaking swimming pool audits.
You'll have the opportunity to liaise and learn from colleagues in the City Development Department, as well as external professionals and agencies. A key aim of this Cadetship is for you to gain the workplace experience required for you to apply for accreditation as an Assistant Building Surveyor (Level 3) with the Australian Institute of Building Surveyors or Accredited Professional Building Level 3 with the Accredited Professionals Scheme under the Planning, Development and Infrastructure Act 2016.
Who you are
If you're motivated, enthusiastic, like to work as part of a team and love to solve problems, you could be a good addition for our City Development Building team. You will need to have substantially completed tertiary study towards achieving the Australian Institute of Building Surveyors accreditation, have sound written and verbal communication skills and enjoy helping colleagues and our community with enquiries and requests.
You must also have a minimum essential qualification as per the following:
- Substantially completed tertiary study applicable to gaining Australian Institute of Building Surveying accreditation as an Assistant Building Surveyor or equivalent
- Current White Card (or willingness to obtain one)
In addition, in accordance with the requirements of this role, a National Police Clearance (within six months of issue) and a current Class C Driver's Licence will be required as part of the recruitment process.
Note: The CWT is a COVID-19 vaccinated workplace, so if successful in gaining employment with the CWT you will be required to provide evidence of COVID-19 vaccination status indicating you have received your two primary doses (or three primary doses if immunocompromised) or alternately your SA Health approved vaccination exemption.
