About the Role
The Café Manager is responsible for the ongoing development of the cafe service and is hands on serving customers and overseeing the day-to-day food and beverage operations of the café while exceeding guest expectations with exceptional food and beverage offerings that showcases the authentic cultural experience at Wai Ariki. The Café Manager ensures team members are trained to deliver the highest standards of food safety and hygiene.
We are looking for a passionate and creative Café Manager who can activate the Wai Ariki café for the local community as well as our Hot Springs and Spa guests.
Key Accountabilities
Manage all food and beverage and day to day operations within budgeted guidelines
Create a high level of food standards
Ensure local produce, Maori suppliers and NZ made products are used in the Café unless exception approved
Ensure café is clean and presentable to the 5 star standards
Adhere to all relevant food health and safety guidelines
Report to management regarding sales, results and productivity
Lead the F & B team in delivery of product
Responsible for team overall performance
Ensure team members provide the highest level of guest experience
Conduct regular inspections of the café, food storage areas and food preparation areas to identify and eliminate hazards and report safety concerns
Responsible for ordering supplies and effective inventory control in line with budget
Ensure waste is minimised and properly recorded
Ensure the café is properly staffed and team members have sufficient training to maintain food safety standards and exceed guest expectations
Ensure all cash handling procedures are followed by team members
Maintain all liquor regulations
Desired Skills & Experience
Essential
- Demonstrated minimum two-year experience in a similar role
- Back of house food prep and menu design
- Relevant qualifications in food handling
- NZ Police check
Desirable
- Liquor licence/duty manager licence highly regarded
- Ability to understand and speak Te Reo Maori
- Sound knowledge and understanding of tikanga and Te Ao Maori
- An understanding of Ngati Whakaue Culture
