An opportunity is currently available for a Cancer Care Pharmacist to join our team primarily based at Campbelltown. You will also work other our other clinics in St Leonards, Frenchs Forest and Kingswood.
This role will see you responsible for providing specialist clinical pharmacy services to patients receiving treatment at GenesisCare Cancer Care centres. This role requires you to participate in the following areas: clinical pharmacy services, dispensary services, clinical trials and medicines information. The role includes providing comprehensive counselling to patients and education of healthcare staff at various levels about medicines management, common interactions and appropriate medicines administration.
More Specifically you will:
- Dispense medication, including chemotherapy to patients
- Clinical review of treatment orders in MOSAIQ (our electronic medical record)
- Approving chemotherapy orders for preparation or supply
- Releasing aseptically prepared products
- Inventory management
- Processing pharmacy invoices
- Providing medication counselling and participating in pre-admission clinics
- Active member in a multidisciplinary team
- Undertake and contribute to GenesisCares governance activities through medication safety and Quality Use of Medicines e.g. drug use evaluation
- Ensure that all administration and documentation requirements are initiated and completed in a professional and timely manner Ensure awareness of and adherence to GenesisCare policies and procedures, and clinical protocols
- Maintain the integrity of patient and treatment data for the area of responsibility.
- Assist in pharmacy training, change management, protocols/procedures and resourcing as required.
- Manage, implement, and build a quality patient experience.
- Gain feedback via the use of regular satisfaction surveys or similar
- Contribute to a patient centred approach in pharmacy services.
- General unrestricted pharmacy registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
- Commitment to patient-focussed pharmacy practice
- Minimum of two years of clinical hospital pharmacy experience, preferably in an oncology/haematology setting
- Excellent written, verbal and electronic communication skills
- Ability to co-ordinate clinical pharmacy services
- An ability to interact effectively with people from diverse culture
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Flexibility to work across all sites as listed above
