The opportunity

We have an opportunity for you to join the Statewide Support Services team. As a Cancer Support Coordinator, you will provide support services to assist people in the Great Southern region affected by cancer. 

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Assessment and provision of emotional, social and practical support to individuals, families and communities affected by cancer
  • Assist in the delivery of support programs
  • Ensuring your surrounding community has access to our latest information
  • Promoting and increasing awareness of our support services in the region
  • Building and maintain stakeholder relationships
  • Developing and managing a team of skilled support Volunteers in the region
  • Maintaining, collecting, analysing and reporting on data for the region

About you

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A tertiary qualification in Nursing, Health or Allied Health, desirably registered with the Australian Health Professional Regulation Agency or equivalent body
  • Current Australian driver’s licence
  • A National Police Clearance
  • Experience in client/patient assessment with the ability to provide immediate support and appropriate referral in relation to client needs
  • Well-developed relationship management and communication skills
  • Intermediate use of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience building and maintaining relationships with key community stakeholders and the ability to expand existing networks as well as identify and establish new networks
  • The ability to manage and prioritise multiple tasks
  • Ability to work autonomously whilst being a member of a state-wide team
  • Experience in providing support to people diagnosed & living with cancer is desirable
  • Have a positive approach to the workplace
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the values of Cancer Council WA
