TITLE: Canteen Manager (casual)
HOURS FOR THIS POSITION: 18 hours per week minimum across 3 days (Wed- Fri) during school terms, with the potential of an extra day in the future.

WAGES: Level 3.1 (casual rates) in accordance with Fast Food Industry Award 2010. Current rates are $33.64 per hour plus superannuation.

As a paid employee of Raymond Terrace Public School P&C Association, the Canteen Manager is answerable to Raymond Terrace Public School P&C Association, the employer’s representatives are the President Sarah Milmo And Vice president Deon Kroll of the Raymond Terrace Public School P&C Association.
The Canteen Manager position may be reviewed quarterly against the Position Description by the Raymond Terrace Public School P&C Association.

POSITION DESCRIPTION
Purpose of the position
Raymond Terrace Public School P&C Association operates the school canteen 3 days per week (Wednesday to Friday) throughout the NSW government school term.

The Canteen Manager is responsible for the financially sustainable management and operation of the school canteen according to the policies and procedures of Raymond Terrace Public School P&C Association.

The Canteen Manager will support the development of strong relationships within the school community, with the students, parents and volunteers, teachers, and other school personnel.
Essential Criteria:
● Demonstrated knowledge of the NSW Healthy School Canteen Strategy and Food Safety Standards
● Well-developed communication skills to effectively and professionally communicate with the RTPS
P&C Executive Committee, canteen volunteers, school staff, students, parents and carers; and
canteen product suppliers.
● Capacity to comply with; and fulfill all responsibilities of the Canteen Manager job description as
outlined below.
Additional Criteria
● A current WWCC (Working With Children Check), or the willingness to obtain one
● Experience in Hospitality- Food and Customer Service industry and/ or small business management
is preferable but not a pre-requisite
● Food Safety Supervisor Certificate, or the willingness to obtain
 
Policy
The Raymond Terrace Public School canteen aims and objectives are to; provide nutritious, hygienically prepared and healthy food at an affordable and reasonable price. As a public school, the Canteen Manager will support and follow the Department of Education ‘Nutrition in Schools Policy’. Menu options should always encourage healthy eating habits in our children.

Authority
The Canteen Manager has responsibility for authorising purchases/ordering necessary products and produce to deliver a menu in line with the Nutrition in Schools Policy.
The Canteen Manager has responsibility for the management of the Canteen and the direction of Canteen assistants and volunteers.

Key Responsibilities
The Canteen manager is responsible for the management of the day-to-day operations of the school canteen. This includes the following responsibilities as listed below.

Daily & Weekly canteen operations:
● Planning, organising, and monitoring the day-to-day operations of the canteen, including the rostering of voluntary workers, daily record-keeping, opening and closing the canteen, preparation and cooking for service and ensuring all workers sign in and out;
● Developing, implementing and managing procedures to deliver the food service;
● Counting, recording and reconciling the daily takings according to school policy for safe handling of
money;
● Ensuring that cleaning incidental to the main function of the canteen is carried out daily (e.g.
dusting of shelves and stock, wiping down benches, cleaning of all equipment and fixtures) in
accordance with the cleaning procedures set out in the food safety plan;
● Security in the canteen such as money, keys, arming security alarms, locking all doors and windows,
switching off all appliances (except refrigeration units) and restricting entry to the canteen to only those who are authorised to be there;
Planning, ordering and stock management:
● Ordering and checking all supplies against invoices and delivery dockets;
● Ensuring that food product prices are monitored and value for money considered;
● Ensure that stock is kept at appropriate levels and a stock take is undertaken at the end of each
school term; and
● Write and submit a written report (outlining key aspects of canteen operations) each month to the President of the Raymond Terrace Public School P&C Association who will report to the P&C Association as suitable.
Meeting Food Safety Standards & WHS Requirements
● Implement procedures and processes regarding food safety to ensure that correct food handling and hygiene practices are performed to prevent food spoilage, contamination and subsequent food poisoning;
● Use food preparation and food-handling skills to minimise waste;
● Ensuring the health, safety and welfare of others in the canteen including logging maintenance
issues adhering to WHS policies and procedures; and undertaking a canteen risk assessment for
hazards every term according to WH&S legislation
● Ensuring a pleasant working environment for volunteers
