Position Summary
This outreach position is a fixed term (12 month) full time, Monday to Friday, Domestic and Family Violence Case Worker role. The role provides outreach based, specialised case management support to women and children who are escaping domestic and family violence who require support with safety planning, undertaking risk assessments, provision of court support (DV and Family Law), provision of information and education in relation to domestic and family violence and its impacts. The applicant will also be required to have experience in running psycho-educational groups and knowledge of group facilitation processes. This position forms part of a team response where we offer safe, practical, emotional and educative support to women impacted by domestic and family violence.
Due to the inherent requirements of this programs delivery we require female representation from our Supported Accommodation team, as such we are currently looking for a Female Support Worker. To be a female is a genuine requirement for the position under Section 31 of the Anti-Discrimination Act, 1997

- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant human services field with demonstrated skills and experience in working with women and children experiencing domestic and family violence
- A demonstrated understanding of the issues related to domestic and family violence, the criminal justice response to DV, legislation in relation to Domestic Violence Orders and an understanding of the family law system and child protection system
- Demonstrated ability to undertake comprehensive risk assessments and safety planning
- Highly developed interpersonal communication skills that are consistent with a strengths based and trauma informed approach
- Demonstrated professional integrity, with respect to matters such as privacy, confidentiality and the best interests of the child.
- Demonstrated ability in facilitating psychoeducational groups and knowledge of group facilitation processes
- Demonstrated ability to work co-operatively within a team and to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to apply a case management approach including the ability to maintain client documentation and proficiency in the use of technology including computer systems and software.
- Ability to work within the beliefs, mission, values and policies of UnitingCare Community and adhere to the provisions of the Workplace Health and Safety and other relevant Legislation as they apply to the region’s services
You will also need:
- Current Queensland Driver’s License – Presentation of a current license must be made before the appointment will be made.
- Working with Children Check (Blue Card).

Remuneration: Starting at $47.50 per hour
