Case Worker and play a vital role in providing compassionate welfare support to our clients. You will be making a meaningful difference in the lives of people single adults, families and some young people facing the challenges of homelessness, establishing, or sustaining tenancies, and related issues within our community.As a
Case Worker reporting to the Program Manager, you'll be responsible for delivering essential services, offering guidance, advocacy, and practical assistance to those in need. Your key responsibilities will be to:- Monitor the transitional housing facilities to ensure that all aspects of property are maintained and address any areas that need attention.
- Provide or source relief support, referral and information to appropriate clients who do not require ongoing case management from the service.
- Conduct initial registrations for clients, including all necessary paperwork and application forms, and induct clients into the service including the property, facilities, financials, and regulations.
- Work with all client levels to create individualized support plans including referral to supplementary services as needed.
- Provide ongoing case management sessions with clients to review progression against individual plans regularly and provide informal counselling as required.
- Participate in rough sleeper patrols (6am start)
- Build a database of relevant information that can be given to clients relevant to their needs, i.e. Parenting courses and information, employment and training opportunities and information, financial counselling services and information etc.
- Assist clients in the process of transition out of our service into independence or other services
Requirements for SuccessWith a significant background in Homelessness, Social housing, Community Services sectors and/or working with families with complex challenges, you will be confident in your case management and assessment processes. Other requirements include:
- A Degree or Diploma in Social Welfare/Social Science or the related humanities would be desirable
- Ability to manage competing priorities and handle a range of tasks, including those which fall outside of case management, to provide the support required for clients within the service.
- Demonstrated capacity to work flexibly and in a solutions-focused way
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal with high level computer skills
- Awareness of Mission Australia and the services we provide, and alignment with our values
- Senior first Aid Certificate
- A current NSW driver license with no restrictions
