Job description
THE ROLE:
As a Case Worker, you will play a vital role in providing support to young people who are at risk of becoming homeless. You will undertake case work, assessing their needs, and developing personalised plans to help them regain stability in their lives.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Create collaborative partnerships with key stakeholders and service providers
• Assess clients' needs through initial intakes and assessment
• Work closely with clients, providing guidance & access to various resources such as housing, healthcare & employment opportunities.
• Provide crisis intervention, information, resources, and support
• Advocate for clients at Government Departments, Courts, and other service providers
• Undertake home visits with clients in temporary or transitional accommodation
• Contribute to and explore options to help clients reach their full potential
• Offer respectful, non-judgmental, and inclusive client support
• Assist clients in following relevant service rules and procedures
• Attend to the primary needs of clients and provide a safe and welcoming environment
• Develop case plans, provide ongoing support, and monitor progress
• Maintain client records and case notes in a professional manner
• Handle phone calls, mail, and correspondence for staff and residents
YOU WILL NEED:
• Minimum TAFE Certificate IV or currently undertaking tertiary study in welfare or related field
• Previous experience providing support to marginalised and vulnerable people, particularly homeless persons
• Demonstrated knowledge of issues relating to homelessness including family breakdown, mental illness, drug, alcohol, and gambling addictions
• Demonstrated awareness of local community support services for homeless clients, including government agencies and NGO’s, and the capacity to build strong relationships with service providers
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Awareness and understanding of Work Health and Safety legislation and a commitment to promoting safe work practices
• Ability to use sound judgement and act appropriately in crisis and emergency situations
• Sound computer skills
• NSW driver's license
