Employed by Zonta House Refuge Association and working collaboratively within the ReSet Consortium led by Wungening Aboriginal Corporation, the position will be responsible for the provision of care support for women exiting prison to become contributing participants in their families, cultures and communities.
The ReSet model provides true continuity of care from prison into the community and is person-centric, built around a range of evidence-based approaches that deliver outcomes in rehabilitation and reintegration. This maternity leave position will also work closely with the Senior Case Worker and other team members as required to ensure the approach is aligned with the Department of Justice’s Individualised and Integrated Offender Management (IIOM).
This full-time Reintegration Case Worker position will be based at Centrecare within a team and provide support to women within Bandyup and Boronia Prisons. This is a full-time position on a fixed-term contract until September 2024, with the possibility of an extension.
Key Responsibilities
- Adhere to Zonta House Refuge Association and Centrecare’s policy and operational requirements.
- Liaise with staff, clients and external agencies to provide integrated service responses.
- Provide individualised and targeted/tailored throughcare support to meet client needs to achieve successful transitioning from prison to the community.
- Provide culturally appropriate, respectful, sensitive and secure pre and post-release support and build relationships and connections with Aboriginal peoples referred to the service.
- Assist women in addressing criminogenic needs, increasing personal functioning, and making positive changes.
- Support individuals through specialist referrals and linkages when in crisis and assist them to engage with and fully participate in support programs that will assist them to achieve positive outcomes.
- Identify and implement appropriate counselling techniques and behavioural modification strategies to facilitate reintegration.
- Ensure all required documentation such as case notes, screenings, assessments, and support plans are maintained.
- Work in collaboration with the Department of Justice, the Transitional Accommodation Support Service Coordinator, Transitional Managers, Custodial Officers and Correctional Officers in the community.
Key Selection Criteria
- A qualification and/or degree in social work, justice, community services or mental health.
- Sound experience and knowledge of Risk Assessment and Safety Plans.
- Diverse professional experience working with women who have experienced family and/or domestic violence, mental health, drug and alcohol and women exiting prison.
- A comprehensive understanding and passion for working in the fields of social reform including homelessness and family and domestic violence.
- Experience of working in collaboration with multiple stakeholders and maintaining good working relationships to support women and children.
- Experience and knowledge of working with the Housing Authority.
- An ability to provide specialised support using a Strengths-Based Therapy approach.
- Experience in working within a Case Management Framework and developing and reviewing case plans.
The successful candidate will need to possess:
- National Police Clearance Certificate
- Working with Children Card
- WA driver's license with good driving records
